Dorota joined Setfords as a Consultant Solicitor in June 2013 from the renowned Leeds Law Firm, Ison Harrison with which she has retained her links. Dorota has worked in the area of Family Law since 2007. She is predominantly based in North and West Yorkshire.
Dorota has a keen interest and growing expertise in all children, matrimonial and financial matters especially with a foreign element including child abductions, contact and residence disputes and cross-jurisdictional divorces.
Dorota has strong advocacy skills being a High Court Advocate with Higher Rights of Audience. She has had conduct of numerous complex cases throughout England. She strives to carry out her own advocacy providing continuity for her clients.
Dorota is a member of International Family Law, working closely with Reunite - a charity organisation supporting parents through the harrowing experience of international child abduction. Dorota has acted for both sides in Hague Convention proceedings and matters of foreign maintenance including registration of foreign orders.
Dorota is also a recognised legal expert who has provided her opinion and assistance in cases involving implementation of English Court Orders in Eastern Europe and especially Poland. She has close links with Polish Law firms.
Dorota has also delivered numerous seminars on the subject of International Family Law both for the legal profession and the Law School at Leeds Metropolitan University as a guest lecturer.
Dorota is a passionate advocate of her clients rights, strongly committed to each one of her cases whatever the circumstances or complexity.
Dorota is a native Polish speaker with a good grasp of German and Russian.
