Neena is a Senior Solicitor with 19 years of post-qualification experience who specialises in Crime, Business Crime, and Investigations.
She has prosecuted and advised several of the UK enforcement departments, including HMRC, National Crime Agency, Metropolitan Police, Independent Office for Police Conduct, Economic Crime Unit, Health and Safety Department, Food Standards Agency, and Financial Conduct Authority. Neena is also an investigative lawyer; she can undertake all aspects of internal investigations, whether related to financial misconduct or employee misconduct. She was an investigative lawyer on the Undercover Policing Inquiry, Infected Blood Inquiry and Covid Inquiry whilst at TLT Solicitors, as well as acting as an investigative lawyer at the Financial Conduct Authority.
Neena specialises in all aspects of complex crime, having prosecuted for the Specialist Fraud Division on large fraud cases, including a 150-million-euro money laundering case, which included restraint proceedings as well as an extensive disclosure exercise concerning historic material held by HMRC. Neena also prosecuted the first film tax fraud case ( £5 million) in the United Kingdom. This was a sophisticated fraud concerning 20 fake companies with multiple bogus films. Neena has worked on Gross Negligence Manslaughter and Corporate Manslaughter cases prosecuted by the Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Department, including the trial concerning death on a construction site, as well as advising in complex health and safety matters amounting to death in the workplace.
Neena can advise individuals and companies on such matters. She has also advised on deaths within hospitals. For example, she was the solicitor in a historic case concerning the death of a baby in a hospital. She can assist individuals facing action being taken by regulatory bodies for breaches. Neena also worked on the high-profile horse meat scandal for the Food Standards Agency. She subsequently worked on the Judicial Review that stemmed from the landmark case, and was instrumental in advising the Food Standards Agency on how to deal with noncompliance by abattoirs and cutting plants.
