Jay Gohil

Jay Gohil Consultant Licensed Conveyancer

With 17 years of experience in the conveyancing industry, Jay began his career as a part-time trainee conveyancer while attending university. Over the years, he progressed through a variety of roles, building extensive experience across residential property transactions. He is now a licensed conveyancer and has held his practising certificate since 2022.

Areas of expertise

Jay has handled a broad range of property matters, including freehold sales and purchases, leasehold transactions, shared ownership properties, and Right to Buy matters. His experience also extends to remortgages, transfers of equity, auction purchases, and lender repossession files, giving him well-rounded experience in residential conveyancing.

Approach to work and clients

Jay's approach to work is rooted in thoroughness and clarity. He carefully reviews all documentation to ensure he has a complete understanding of each transaction and that no detail is overlooked. Alongside this attention to detail, he prioritises clear and proactive communication from the outset, ensuring clients feel informed, supported, and confident throughout the process. Jay particularly prides himself on keeping clients fully updated at every significant stage of their transaction, especially as matters move towards exchange and completion. He understands that conveyancing can often feel complex and stressful, and he works to provide reassurance through consistent and transparent communication.

Notable cases

One notable matter he handled did not proceed to exchange or completion but highlighted the importance of truly understanding a client’s needs. Early in the transaction, he identified that the lease terms were unsuitable for his client, a tradesperson who relied on a commercial vehicle for work. The lease prohibited parking commercial vehicles in the forecourt, which would have caused significant practical difficulties. Although the issue may have been resolved through a lease variation, Jay raised the concern immediately and clearly outlined the available options. As the client needed to move quickly, he chose not to proceed. He later instructed Jay on a new purchase and two further transactions and has since recommended his services to others.

Outside of work, Jay trains at his local boxing gym two to three times a week, often bringing his two sons along. Boxing provides a balance that helps him stay focused, disciplined, and grounded.
