Thowheetha is an experienced Family Solicitor and Mediator. She qualified as a Solicitor in 1991 and as a Mediator in 2000. She undertakes all areas of family law, particularly, divorce, financial settlements, dissolution of civil partnerships, cohabitee disputes and children issues.
Thowheetha appriecates that the breakdown of a family relationship can cause distress and stress to the parties, especially to any children involved. Often a client can initially be overwhelmed by the situation and unsure of their rights. She aims to provide sound legal advice to all her clients, in a polite, considerate and professional manner, thereby enabling them to make constructive decisions for themselves and their children. Thowheetha will do her utmost to avoid inflaming matters unnecessarily.
Thowheetha is qualified to directly consult with children in mediation, thereby giving the children a voice and allowing the parents to hear the children's views. This often has a positive impact on how the parents move forward and their respective relationships with their children. It can also help to avoid further distress to the children and the parties. Wherever possible, Thowheetha strives to find a amicable solution without the need of going to court. She has extensive experience of drafting documents and advising on complex issues. In the event, court proceedings cannot be avoided, Thowheetha either does the advocacy herself or instructs experienced counsel with whom she has an excellent working relationship. Thowheetha is an accredited specialist member of Resolution and an accredited member of the Family Mediation Council. She is a legal Trainer for National Family Mediation (NFM) and trains prospective Mediators around the country. Thowheetha is an Honorary Legal Advisor at the Royal Courts of Justice in London and a Consultant and Mediator at a long standing NFM Bureau in Bromley, Kent.
She has written a number of articles for the Resolution magazine and presented several seminars and workshops on family law and mediation issues.
