I have been in legal practice since 1988 and a solicitor since 2000. I have wide-ranging experience across many fields of practice, working in private practice for small firms and in-house with a public utility company and local government. As a result, I have acted for both claimants and defendants, including some advocacy, together with some criminal prosecution and defence work.
My experience includes:
- Personal injury litigation
- Local authority civil and criminal litigation
- General advice to council departments
- Housing possessions advocacy
- Small claims arbitrations
- Licensing applications
- Debt recovery
- Housing disrepair litigation
- Will drafting
- Employment tribunals
- Criminal defence in magistrates' courts
- Motor Insurers' Bureau and Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority cases
- Some conveyancing
- Applications to set aside county court judgments
- Consent orders.
I have been a self-employed freelance solicitor since 2019. My specialist areas of practice are personal injury and housing disrepair. I put client care at the top of my priorities, alongside professional standards and competence. I like my clients to feel that they can talk easily to me about their problems and issues, so I aim for an approach which is both professional and friendly.
In my "other life" away from the law, I am a masters' international athlete. I run middle and long distance and represent Great Britain at European and world masters' championships. I have won medals at British, European and world masters' championships, and my best achievement to date is a silver medal at the World Masters Cross Country Championships in Australia in 2023. I also work as a team manager for my athletics club and am an assistant manager for the Great Britain masters' team.
