Michelle qualified in 1997 and has over 20 years’ experience within Private Client law. Previously a Partner with a leading Surrey Law firm, she moved to Setfords to concentrate on what she enjoys most about being a Private Client Solicitor; helping people navigate the challenges that life and death present.
Whether you are looking to put Wills in place to provide for loved ones or are interested in Inheritance tax planning or protective Trusts, Michelle can talk you through the options clearly and objectively, always focussing on your aims and tailoring your Wills to suit you.
If you are considering Lasting Powers of Attorney for yourselves or others, Michelle can provide guidance on how to set these up, who to appoint and how they should act and guide you through the creation, execution and registration process. She is also experienced in the registration of Enduring Powers of Attorney.
Michelle understands that, whether expected or sudden, bereavement is a life changing event. Following a bereavement, those left behind can find themselves bewildered by the paperwork and terminology in an area of life which they haven’t encountered before, at the same time as processing the overwhelming emotion of loss. Michelle will work with you to understand the administration process in a sensitive way, removing the jargon and tailoring her involvement to suit you. You may want your hand holding throughout or you may feel capable of taking on a large part of the work yourself. Whatever your needs, she is happy to discuss these with you, arriving at a package tailored to suit you.
Michelle offers face to face meetings in the office or, if mobility is an issue, in your own home and is also happy to conduct meetings via Zoom or Teams.
Michelle is a fully accredited member of both STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and the Lifetime Lawyers Association (formerly Solicitors for the Elderly).
