Before joining Setfords she worked as a Supervisor and Case Handler for UK firm Thompson’s Solicitors, heading up a large industrial litigation team. Following on from that Edwina has expanded her litigation background specialising in Criminal litigation, Personal Injury, Medical Negligence, Agricultural Disputes, Rights of Way disputes, Contentious Probate, Equitable remedies, Judicial Review, Debt recovery, Common Land Law, Licensing and Civil litigation matters. Edwina regularly appears as an advocate before both Magistrates and County Courts and acts as instructing Solicitor in High Court and Court of Appeal cases for both Civil and Criminal Divisions.
An able advocate Edwina is a well-respected local solicitor in her field. She has been instructed to represent a number of high profile individuals both commercial and private including some well known sporting and TV personalities. Edwina is also a qualified Duty Solicitor and Accredited Police Station representative.
Edwina deals with all areas of criminal defence from the most serious to the more modest offences. Recent cases include murder, male rape, historical allegations of rape, threats to kill, assault, fraud, indecent images, burglary, regulatory offences, VOSA prosecutions, RSPCA prosecutions, drug manufacture and supply and motoring offences. She also advises on making representations to the Disclosure and Barring Service for removal from their lists and upon actions against the Police. Edwina deals with a wide range of Civil matters and has broad experience as litigator. Most recently Edwina successfully achieved Judgement against a UK wide Debt Collection company and recovered substantial fees for her client further to a contested County Court Trial.
She acts on a private only basis. She will be clear about costs and can where feasible, agree to act on legal aid equivalent rates in criminal matters.
