Mark has practised as a solicitor in both Devon and Cornwall since 1993. His areas of practice are:
- Wills
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Probate and the Administration of Estates
- Trusts
- Inheritance Tax advice.
Mark has a particular affinity with older clients and is a fully accredited member of The Association of Lifetime Lawyers (formerly known as Solicitors for the Elderly). This is a national group of solicitors, barristers and chartered legal executives who specialise in matters relating to the older client. In addition, Mark also attained full membership of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). STEP is a worldwide body comprising professionals who specialise in the field of Trusts and Estates.
Mark is a member of the STEP Special Interest Group for Digital Assets. A knowledge of the world of digital records and assets allows Mark to advise clients on how to grant access to them when writing their Wills and Powers of Attorney. At the same time as embracing the digital world, Mark is strongly of the opinion that providing his clients with a traditional service, such as meeting in person where possible, blends the old and the new to great effect.
He complies with the STEP Code for Will Preparation in England & Wales. The Code is a set of ethical principles that operate for the benefit of clients and demonstrate openly the commitment of STEP members to transparency and client service. The Code can be viewed by clicking on this link – https://www.step.org/public/step-will-code
Mark is happy to conduct an initial short, free interview on the telephone and can then travel to the client’s own home, care home or hospital. Due to this more traditional approach to service, Mark’s clients are largely drawn from Devon, where he has been based since the mid-1990s. However, clients from further afield can be met by video link, such as MS Teams.
Locations: Exeter and the wider Devon area (in person) and elsewhere by MS Teams.
Availability: Monday to Friday inclusive, and evening appointments by arrangement.
Outside work, Mark enjoys family life with his wife and two children. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, gardening, walking in the Devon countryside and exploring Yorkshire and the Peak District.
