Angela Sharma
Senior Consultant Family Solicitor

Angela qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and has specialised in family law since that time

Prior to joining Setfords Angela has had varied experience in working in private practice, including working in a busy legal aid practice undertaking much domestic violence work after qualifying. Thereafter she moved to a smaller local firm in Hornchurch and was made a Partner and remained there for a further 8 years.  She was responsible for the Family Department and continued to represent clients, including representing them in the local county courts.  She enjoys advocacy which means continuity for clients both in and out of court.

Her non-confrontational approach and desire to reach an amicable solution in her clients best interests and the best interests of the family unit dictate her approach in offering honest and frank advice.  As family breakdown is a very difficult and emotional time for families, she offers a free half an hour consultation via phone or Teams so that the client is able to see if they are able to work with her.

Angela has enjoyed mentoring and training junior solicitors and trainees and finds this very satisfying.

Angela is a member of Resolution and has been involved with only Mums and Dads which is a service provider for families upon martial/relationship breakdown and was also involved with a Local Asian Organisation to support women of Asian origin struggling in their relationships.  Her ability to speak both Punjabi and Hindi assisted her greatly in this.

On a personal note, Angela enjoys travelling, especially walking holidays which have included trekking in Nepal and exploring the cloud and rainforests in Costa Rica to learn about the effects of global warming in such tropical places.  As a challenge she enjoys white water rafting. To unwind after a busy day, Angela will do a spinning class.

Angela has also recently been appointed as a Trustee on the Board for the St Francis Hospice on a volunteer basis so as to be able to give back to the community the experience and knowledge she has obtained during the course of her career.
