Ian Black Consultant Costs Lawyer

Ian is a qualified Costs Lawyer who has been involved in legal costs for 23 years. He is the Managing Director of Ian Black and Associates Ltd and runs this business alongside matters referred to him through Setfords. Ian has experience of dealing with all types of costs matters, including personal injury, clinical negligence, contentious probate, corporate matters, legal aid and private family law, child care cases, forced marriage protections cases, employment, housing and Court of Protection. He regularly drafts Costs Budgets, attends Costs and Case Management Conferences and Detailed Assessment Hearings, drafts Bills of Costs for Detailed Assessment and negotiates costs settlements and in relation to costs management work.

Ian is a longstanding member of the Association of Costs Lawyers and, before that, the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen, qualifying as Associate of the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen in January 2001, a Fellow in January 2003 and a Costs Lawyer in April 2009. He undertakes a programme of Continuous Professional Development, attending costs conferences and keeping abreast of costs case law and developments at all times. He will be more than happy to provide free legal advice on costs matters to Consultants at Setfords to assist in the management of cases. Ian's services are available to all of the Consultants at Setfords, some of whom he has already provided assisted in relation to the drafting of bills and Costs Budgets.
