Tess Barrett represents and advises employers and employees from all sectors on the full range of employment-related issues offering clear and practical advice tailored to meet the needs of each client.
Tess moved to London from the South West in 2008 and joined an employment team based in Chancery Lane. Originally called to the Bar she cross qualified as a solicitor so she could offer a high level of involvement in clients’ cases from beginning to end. It is this personal touch that ensures her clients receive the very highest standard of service and support at, what is often, a very difficult and stressful time for them.
She developed a niche specialism in work-related psychiatric injury (stress at work) claims in response to the number of enquiries she was receiving from city workers who had developed mental health conditions as a result of unreasonably excessive workloads. She also has particular expertise in bringing and defending discrimination matters with significant experience in disability and pregnancy & maternity discrimination cases. She also has a wealth of experience in TUPE matters providing straightforward advice to employers and employees on this intricate and complex area of law.
Tess is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and she regularly represents clients in the Employment Tribunal.
In her spare time, Tess is an enthusiastic cook and amateur jewellery maker.
