Matthew is an experienced residential conveyancing solicitor with over twenty-two years of experience in the real estate sector. He began his legal career in 2004 and qualified as a solicitor in 2008.

Matthew started his career in private practice, and then moved into the housing sector, where he gained full-cycle exposure to the housebuilding process, including land acquisition, development, financing and disposals.  This experience significantly enhanced his expertise in new build developments, site set-ups, plot sales, planning, property management and shared ownership, 

Most recently, Matthew was Head of Conveyancing at the UK’s largest provider of new build affordable housing.

He understands the pressures involved in the conveyancing process and provides calm, clear guidance to clients, estate agents and developers throughout.  He is committed to supporting clients from instruction through to completion, treating every client with consistency, respect and professionalism.

He particularly values building strong relationships with clients, estate agents and developers, and takes pride in securing repeat business. Matthew enjoys the technical aspects of his work, especially reviewing title and contract documentation, and thrives on resolving complex issues. He finds the most rewarding aspect of his work is the appreciation shown by clients upon exchange and completion.

Career highlights

Throughout his career, Matthew has achieved a number of notable milestones. As Head of Conveyancing, he created, developed, grew and led the conveyancing department, overseeing more than 10,000 new build shared ownership plot sales.  He has successfully diversified his skillset, transitioning from private practice into an in-house role within the housing sector, and has trained and developed over 20 paralegals and solicitors during his career, and building a network of contacts.

Outside of his professional life, Matthew enjoys travelling and exploring new cultures, as well as maintaining an active lifestyle through running, squash and football. He also enjoys attending gigs and festivals and spending time with his family, and walking his beloved cocker spaniel.
