Every year thousands of people are injured in accidents whilst abroad. Thankfully, just as in the UK, there are usually rules in force to assist people who are injured in accidents overseas. Our specialist lawyers have the expertise to understand these international issues and have assisted people with such claims successfully in the past.
The law relating to compensation claims differs from country to country and can be complex. It is important therefore that your legal advisers understand these issues to achieve the best result for you.
We have had experience in dealing with claims involving accidents abroad, whether these are road traffic accidents or other types of injury or accident suffered whilst on holiday.
An example of a successful claim that has been handled by one of our experts is a gentleman who went on holiday to a 5 star hotel in Abu Dhabi and whilst there slipped on a wet marble floor and broke his hip. He was initially advised by a solicitor at another firm that he had no claim. The tour operator had denied liability as had the hotel. He had been advised that he should bring a claim in Abu Dhabi but was reluctant to do this due to the unknown cost and unpredictability of an Arabic legal system. Our expert reviewed the situation and took a different view. He successfully pursued a claim against the tour operator for compensation, recovering several thousand pounds and, in addition, legal costs. The claimant received approximately £10,000 plus his legal costs.
If you suffer from such unfortunate circumstances or similar whist abroad then it pays to take professional advice. We may be able to help- we will always try.. We will assess what has happened to you and give you an honest view as to whether you are likely to have a successful claim or not. In many cases it is possible to make a claim here in the UK, even if you were injured overseas. Where that is not possible, we may be able to progress your claim abroad. Our experts have handled many such claims successfully.
