Setfords Solicitors has been named among the UK’s top 200 law firms, with record growth seeing it rapidly rise up The Lawyer’s turnover-based rankings.
The firm is now placed at 152 in the UK 200, following a 30 per cent increase in revenue. Turnover finished at £17.6 million for the most recent financial year.
With more than 300 consultant lawyers and over 100 support staff, Setfords remains the market-leading national full-service platform firm. Co-CEO Chris Setford described it as a “milestone moment” and attributed the growth to the ever-increasing number of lawyers applying to join, with over 1000 applications in the past 12 months.
Chris said: “Our incredible growth is testament to the great work our consultant lawyers deliver for our clients every day and the growing appeal of the Setfords model.
“Having the ability to work from anywhere while knowing you have the best support in the dispersed law firm sector is obviously appealing to lawyers looking for a better way of working.”
The top 200 ranking comes in the same year Setfords cemented its reputation as one of the best places to work in the legal industry. In the summer Setfords was the first law firm to launch its own Wellbeing Department, while in November it was named Law Firm of the Year in the Women in Law Awards 2020, for its exemplary commitment to promoting gender diversity.
Financial growth at the firm has been increasing rapidly in recent years, in part thanks to the leads generated for Setfords’ lawyers by its digital marketing and sales team. The department has helped generate over five million pounds worth of business in the last 12 months, and this is expected to rise further in 2021.
Chris added: “Our long-standing reputation as a law firm that offers brilliant service and a brilliant life for its lawyers has a large role to play in us continuing to attract the best legal minds in the industry.
“Coupled with this, the pandemic has made many people stop and question their careers and their life beyond work. We are able to offer a greater work-life balance, greater remuneration through our fee-share, and greater happiness. We expect to see even higher growth in the next year, and look forward to welcoming many more lawyers to our platform.”
Co-CEO Guy Setford said: “To have reached this moment during COVID-19 is testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone within Setfords, including our incredible support team. They have more than risen to the challenge to support our lawyers. We are very proud of them and everyone else at the firm.”
