Tom Lathom Consultant Solicitor

Tom was admitted as a solicitor in 2013 and has since built extensive experience across firms in Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. Prior to joining Setfords, he was a Partner and Head of Department at a firm in Corby, Northamptonshire, before leading the Litigation Department at a firm in Loughborough, Leicestershire.

With a strong background in litigation and employment law, Tom advises both businesses and individuals on a broad range of disputes and is particularly recognised for his pragmatic and solutions-focused approach. A strong advocate of alternative dispute resolution, he has successfully guided many clients through mediation, helping them resolve disputes efficiently and cost-effectively without lengthy court proceedings.

Career highlights

One notable matter involved acting for a landowner near Birmingham in a highly contentious boundary dispute. Although the client had previously been advised that court proceedings would be inevitable and costly, Tom arranged an early without prejudice site meeting with the opposing solicitor. Following constructive discussions, measurements, and a review of the issues on site, the parties reached an agreement and avoided a protracted, expensive court case.

Outside of work, Tom volunteers as a First Aider for St John Ambulance, covering events across the Leicestershire area.
