Gwyn Jones Gwyn Jones
Consultant Solicitor

I am a Solicitor with more than forty years of experience in Private Practice, Commerce and Industry, dealing in both contentious and non-contentious matters.

In my role as a conveyancer, I have completed over 5,000 commercial and residential property transactions. I have worked for high profile clients, and as In House Counsel, for example, as European Litigation Manager for Hitachi Data Systems, an IT-based company in Berkshire.

Historically, I come from a farming and construction focussed background, I have worked in Steelworks and in the Docks. I was a student at St Martin’s School of Art and Design in the West End. I then studied law at the College of Law, Guildford. My academic record evidence I obtained distinctions and placed me in one particular year, the top 0.1 % of England and Wales law students.

My law apprenticeship ‘articles’ were principally in Pall Mall, then Chancery Lane WC2. During training, I injuncted to my principal’s alarm, my professional body, the Law Society, and had sole and successful conduct of an All England and Times Law Reports case concerning the interaction of Tort and Contract in relation to a Scottish Client who suffered a below-knee amputation whilst working in Tripoli, Libya for the Libyan National Oil Corporation during the General Gaddafi regime. The barrister on the case was a former head boy at my public school in Taunton, and a former adviser to Margaret Thatcher.

Because of commercial international litigation, I carried out on behalf of  Barclays Bank Plc, they funded, without financial security, by establishing a practice at the age of 28, opposite the BBC studios in Portland Place.

I have bought, sold and /or developed over 100 properties in London and the South East, and my magazine, Voulez Vous with its Highgate N6 Office, sold French Real Estate in cooperation with over fifty agents throughout France. I was once part of a successful defence of a client whose arrest was filmed and featured on News at 10. anchored by Trevor Macdonald. The 5-month trial, having some 18 barristers was led as to my client’s team. by the late Desmond da Silva QC, I have acted for several high profile clients and instructed also Geoffrey Cox QC before he became Attorney General, under Theresa May.

My client profile CV includes personalities from acting, sport and motor racing.

During the last five years, I have been a partner in private practice in Wimbledon, worked as a consultant professional negligence solicitor in the City of London, and at Law Practices in Swindon and Cardiff. My work during this time has included acting in Wimbledon in the £10m Estate of the late Art Critic, Brian Sewell.  in Cardiff, multi-million-pound property portfolio restructuring.

Commercially, I have represented UK clients not only in the UK  overseas.
