Setfords hires PR consultancy founded by former BBC Watchdog Series Producer as part of Setfords London launch

Setfords Solicitors has hired a PR consultancy founded by a former BBC journalist as part of its expansion which includes the launch of Setfords London.

Calder PR was founded this year by Keir Calder MacKenzie, a former television and print journalist who spent 14 years working for the BBC, including series producing and editing BBC Watchdog.

Calder PR will handle all internal and external communications for the dispersed law firm which has 158 consultant solicitors across the country, as well as a team of lawyers based in Guildford. The firm was set up by joint CEOs Guy and Chris Setford, who are cousins, with David Rogers as Managing Director overseeing day-to-day operations. It recently opened offices on Chancery Lane in the capital under the name Setfords London, and announced a recruitment drive for corporate and commercial lawyers.

Guy Setford said: “We are very excited to have Calder PR looking after us. Keir’s incredible experience, media contacts and exceptional creativity are exactly what we were looking for.

“Setfords is based on providing the best legal services by providing the best support to our lawyers and our PR and communications strategy is a vital part of that. We are confident Calder PR will help deliver our message to the public and offer the support our lawyers need to grow their client base.”

Chris Setford said: “We have been quietly perfecting our way of working and we believe we now offer the best support to consultant solicitors in the industry. But with turnover doubling in the past three years and the launch of Setfords London, we realised the time had come to employ a consultancy to help us spread the word. We couldn’t be more pleased to have Calder PR, led by Keir MacKenzie, looking after us.”

David Rogers added: “PR and communications is a vital part of the support structure we have put in place at Setfords. We also have a great story to tell and we are confident Calder PR is the consultancy to help us tell it.”

Keir, who’s also worked ITV, Channel 4, and local newspapers, said: “I’m very excited to be representing Setfords. Guy and Chris’s vision about how a law firm should be run and their approach to business is genuinely inspiring and I’m very excited to have Setfords as my first client.”
