Whiplash claims at a new low

A new report by the government has said that the number of whiplash claims has dropped by 60,000. According to figures there were 488,281 over the last year which put figures at their lowest since 2008/2009.These figures were included as part of the transports committees investigation into whiplash claims and were compiled by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). APIL has said that this evidence will go some way to challenge the bad press that the insurance industry has given to whiplash cases. Matthew Stockwell, from APIL has said,‘This debate has been mired in myth and hyperbole for far too long.’ On the other side the Association of British Insurers is in support of the new rules that the government has implemented, whereby now there is a £5,000 limit on in the small claims court. The contents of this article are intended for general information purposes only and shall not be deemed to be, or constitute legal advice.
