Tesco’s buy the restaurant business Giraffe

The supermarket chain Tesco’s, have announced their latest acquisition, the buying of the restaurant business Giraffe. Tesco has recently gone through a phase of buying businesses, which includes a 49% stake in the coffee chain Harris & Hoole as well as an investment in Euphorium Bakery Chain. Tesco have recently announced a big improvement in their figures, with Christmas sales from 2012 being the strongest in three years. Tesco’s believe that their customers will be real advocates of the new restaurant with the group’s commercial director saying “We think our customers will love it.” The business also believe that this is a good move as it will help stores with the question of what to do with the empty space of where music and DVD sales used to be. Many stores have an excess of retail space and these restaurants may help to fill the gaps.
