Figures have today been announced regarding the number of handsets that some of the top mobile phone manufacturers have produced over the last year. Samsung has topped the table with a 25% share in the market, closely followed by Nokia. This is all off the back of the growth of the smart phone market which rose to 700 million units last year. The battle between Samsung and Apple has been emerging from sometime, but the Samsung Galaxy has proved a more popular option with individuals over recent months at the same time as Apple has had to overcome the disappointment over the Iphone 5 sales. In addition this week Apple announced that it had produced flat profits, showing no signs on increase since the same quarter last year. For the rest of the year it appears that these brands will be focusing on the emerging markets, in places like Brazil and India and researches, like Mark Newman of the research firm Informa, believe that this will help Samsung continue to take a greater market share over Apple.
