New proposal by the government suggest that they will make reward payments to businesses who try to save on their energy costs. This includes changes like switching to low-energy lighting, resulting in businesses receiving payment for each kilowatt-hour saved.
However, these proposals look to be published along side the Energy Bill when this comes out, and many environmental critics say that this is not enough and should be included in the Bill. They argue that the government needs to put through changes that will start to allow consumers to save money and ultimately use less energy.
Another announcements along these line to try and put more money back in the pockets of all consumers has been the Green Deal, where homeowners are able to borrow cash to pay for insulation in their homes. The government is putting forward more funds to spread awareness of this through advertising.
