Much of the west of England and Wales has experienced heavy rainfall over the weekend leading to widespread flooding and sever damage to much residential property. Over 800 homes have so far been affected and two people have known to have died.
The rain does not appear to be letting up and the Environment Agency has put out around 280 flood alerts with the weather system now moving further north to northern Wales and Yorkshire. There is now an Amber warning issues with expected rainfall of 50-70mm.Attention now turns to the government and the insurance industry to see how the issue will be tackled going forward.
