The High Court has seen another intellectual property and copyright case and has dismissed the appeal by YouView to be allowed to register its name, as it is too similar to the brand registered a year early by Total Ltd, Your View. Total have claimed to take the matter further and claim for damages. This appeal has come after an earlier trademark infringement in May by the Intellectual Property Office.

YouView is believed to has continued to act and executives believe that the legal challenge will not effect their trading as they are a TV company which is different to the Your View brand by Total, a business to business billing service. A spokesman for the business has also said that they will not be making any steps to change their brand name. While intellectual property experts suggest that the best way forward would be for YouView to come to some kind of ongoing consent agreement with Total in order to be able to continue using the name.
