Mayor calls for property development

A new opportunity, instigated by Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, has arisen for commercial property developers. The mayor is looking for developers to build new homes in Elephant & Castle as part of the redevelopment of a 45 story building.

This all comes off the back of the mayors wishes to regenerate a large part of the capital, and off the back of the Olympics and all the work in east London the idea is likely to be met with enthusiasm. The project architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners have designed the area which is set to make a real town centre for the area with more housing and better transport as well as a new theatre.

The Mayor has said,

“This project will play a key role in our plans to release public land to boost construction, create jobs and provide homes for working Londoners. It will be central to helping Elephant and Castle realise its enormous potential for growth and regeneration and so I’m delighted to ask developers to step forward and make it happen. We’re looking for a developer with the know-how, financial clout and the ambition that this fantastic project deserves and that will help to make this historic part of London an even better place to live, work and visit.”
