Branches of Natwest were open over all of the weekend for the first ever following a major technical issue experienced by the bank at the end of last week, which caused all money transfers and normal operations to come to a standstill.
The bank have announced that the majority of the backlog of payment should have been cleared by Monday June 25th, although some customers claim issues are continuing with money not appearing in their accounts and continued inability to pay out to those they owe. The bank has said however, that it will cover all costs to its customers from being out of pocket. The property market will have suffered during this time, with many residential property solicitors complaining that it made competition on property sales almost impossible, as those acting for the sellers of property were unable to see funds coming in from buyers and vice versa where Natwest customers were involved. The contents of this article are intended for general information purposes only and shall not be deemed to be, or constitute legal advice.
