The need for a public enquiry, into the rejection of residential property development plans in east Devon, has been dismissed today by planning inspectors.
The plans at the heart of the appeal, for 154 residential properties to be built in the Exmouth area, submitted by Strategic Land Partnerships, had been rejected by East Devon District Council twice already.
Planning inspectors involved in the case stated that wildlife in the area and the number of local school places were two of the major concerns with the plans. Inspector Neil Pope went on to state in the report that “the proposal would seriously harm the character and appearance of the area” which lead him to conclude “that in landscape/settlement terms this site is unsuitable for housing”.
Local residents we’re relieved by the decision.
