An employment law case came to a conclusion today as Nottinghamshire's Chief Constable, Julia Hodson, agreed to settle a compensation claim after being sued by a former deputy.
The claim was made by Howard Roberts, who had been Deputy Chief Constable for seven years, in relation to the non-renewal of his contract in 2010; an event that Mr Roberts claimed was victimisation after his exposure of wrongdoing by the Chief Constable, exposure that he should have been protected from under whistleblowing laws.
Other allegations related to the case will not be made public, as the settlement means the employment tribunal will not be heard in court, and the settlement amount remains undisclosed.
The former chairman of Nottinghamshire Police Authority, John Clarke, commented on the case, saying that he was "very surprised" at the settlement.
