Bellway Housing Sales on the Up

One of the UK’s largest house builders, Bellway, had some good news for the residential property market recently; as sales figures released earlier this week show a rise in their viewings and sales.

The housing group sold a total of 2,455 in the last 6 months of 2011, a rise of just over 5% on the previous year. The company also saw a marked rise in the average selling price of their properties too, increasing from £168,428 to £183,000.

Bellway released a statement saying: "With visitor levels up by around 20% since the beginning of January and with the government's new 'Mortgage Indemnity Guarantee' scheme about to be launched, early indications are that the housing market remains resilient."

The results of the report have been well received by analysts, who also hope that this is the beginning of a turn around for the property market as a whole.
